About the Artist
Sarah Gordon is a British artist and designer working from her coastal home studio on Bainbridge Island, WA. She is known for her curious, contemporary artwork that brings together botanicals, insects and birds with seaweed, coral and other natural elements. Her bold incorporation of contrasting colour and mark making is influenced by the simplicity of modern art combined with her love for quirky antique botanical illustrations creating a unique view into nature.
Much of her inspiration comes from daily walks at local beaches and forests where she collects natural âtreasuresâ that become the start of new artwork ideas. Following the daily patterns of nature and seasonal changes she has become particularly drawn to natural imperfections and unnoticed details such as tangled stems or delicate markings and patterns.
Sarah has had the opportunity to collaborate with an exciting range of clients including interior designers, fashion and home collections and book publishers. In addition to original artwork Sarah has now expanded her brand to include wallpaper, textiles and soon to come home products. Recent exhibits include the Royal Albert Memorial Museum, UK and AMCE Gallery, Seattle.
When Sarah is not working she loves daily cold plunging in the icy Puget Sound in all weather and spending time with her two sons and husband in nature.
